As Bruce travels around to different places in the world, the part that he really enjoys is trying out the local beers in each country or region. The beer doesn’t have to special, it is just trying the local beer that is important. This page is dedicated to the beers that I have tried. I didn’t start this page until 2024, so it is not very comprehensive.
Thailand
Chang is the goto beer in Thailand. You can find it everywhere and it is quite refreshing. It is not my first choice but is still good.In 2023, Jo Booker joined up with our group in Chiang Mai for the lantern festival. We walked home one evening looking for a drink. It took a while but finally we found a boutique beer bar next to Jo’s hotel. We bought a couple of “Carabao” beers and loved them. The biggest surprise was that we were charged no more for the boutique beer as the normal beer.My preferred beer in Thailand is Singha. I find it has more bite.
Greece
When we visited Athens, our taxi driver recommended “Mamoz” beer as his favourite. I tried it straight after settling into the hotel and was not disappointed. It was light and refreshing and suited the warm atmosphere that existed all the time.Alpha is also an Athens beer. I preferred Mamoz since it had more bight. In Naplio, I tired their local beer and it was very refreshing on a hot Greek day.Once you left Athens, the local beer obviously changed. In Olympia, the local was “Mythos” and strangely this suited the atmosphere very well. I found it equally as enjoyable as Mamoz.Obviously, if you are in Kalamata you will try their beer. It was ok, but the “M’s” are still the best.
