Our first game in Thailand was at the Grand Prix Golf Club. This is a course owned by a Thai business man who loves cars so he themed the course with different racing and motoring images. Rosie and I played this course a few years ago with Merv and it was well worth a second […]
Neil’s Birthday Trip Begins
After a fairly torturous flight from Perth in the middle of the night to Singapore and then Bangkok, we arrived fairly tired and stiff, but we were picked up by Tom’s Taxis and taken to our very nice hotel. The room had a separate bedroom, kitchen and living area which is way above our usual […]
Joondallup Golf Resort – 2023
Last year Bruce went to his first AGM of a company that he owns shares in. Wesfarmers holds theirs in Perth and he had such a good time that this year he convinced Rosie to come along. Jim and Anne thought it would be fun too, so Jim bought some shares so they could also […]
New E-Bikes
Rosie and I are going to start getting a bit more exercise while also travelling around the local sites. Rosie got herself a Gazelle Grenoble c7 e-bike and Bruce bought a Kalkhoff Endeavour. We did a test run into town yesterday and cruised up and down the hill at Basildene. Both bikes have pedal assist […]
Green Valley Golf Club
On this holiday Bruce wanted to play a couple of Robert Trent Jones Jr designed courses. He designed both Joondallup and Meadow Springs and I think both courses are not difficult but do require planning, which I like. We were not disappointed with either course, this one and Eastern Star in Pattaya. Green Valley is […]
Bangkok Stay
At the end of our trip, we stayed in Bangkok for four nights since we still had hotel credits from 2020. We stayed at the Novotel Silom Road, which is reasonably cheap and has quick access to the freeway to the airport. The hotel is a bit run down now, but the pool was good […]
Muang Kaew Golf Club
We played this course 5 years ago but neither one of us could remember it. It is owned by the same group that own Chiang Mai Highlands and the course is in good condition. Bruce particularly liked the greens since they were the most consistent of all the ones we have played on this trip. […]
Golf at Mae Jo Country Club
Mae Jo Country Club was a 45 minute drive out of Chiang Mai. It was an older course and they had been having a few difficulties with the greens but overall it was in good condition and quite enjoyable. Bruce found it difficult since the fairways were a bit narrow and there were often tight […]
A Rest Day in Chiang Mai
Bruce had nothing planned for today so we just had a leisurely breakfast overlooking our laundry, which was drying out on the street across the road from our hotel. A swim in the pool, a walk to a really nice coffee shop, a massage and then a walk around town.
Summit Green Valley Chiang Mai
This is an older course but is still in good condition. We found the greens to be better than Pattaya. The caddies were both very good. Worth playing again.
