At the end of our trip, we stayed in Bangkok for four nights since we still had hotel credits from 2020. We stayed at the Novotel Silom Road, which is reasonably cheap and has quick access to the freeway to the airport.
The hotel is a bit run down now, but the pool was good and the breakfast was okay. We were able to walk to some street food places at night and we got Grab Taxis to China town for $7 each way.

On our rest day, we caught https://chaophrayatouristboat.com/ from the Sathorn Pier which is only a 1 km walk from the hotel. It was $6 each for an all day ticket which would be good value if you used it extensively. We only stopped off a couple of times so it would have been cheaper to buy individual tickets. It was nice to go cruising up the river and see Bangkok from the water.
We stopped off at Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn), which was quite spectacular to look at. After this we caught the cross river ferry for 20c to visit Wat Pho, but when we saw the entry fee of $8 each we decided we had seen enough Wats.
The street food in Bangkok is excellent and you don’t have to go looking for an expensive restaurant to get a great meal. We walked around China Town and didn’t really find anything that suited our tastes and price range, but we still found some street cafes that fulfilled our needs.
Since we didn’t find any Chinese restaurants in China Town that we like, Bruce found this funny little restaurant around the corner from our hotel. We had to go through a hamburger place and then up the stairs to find the restaurant. When we got there, all it was was kitchen, a servery and a bench table that could fit 5. They mainly did Uber eats, but we sat down anyway and had a lovely meal that we watched being cooked. The two girls running it were very friendly and Rosie loved it.
All up, the access to golf was as good as every where else, but Bangkok is like all big cities and as such been there, done that.
