After a pleasant 11 hours of flying (1 stop) we all arrived safely in Tokyo, some looking fresher than others. We then spent an hour at the airport getting ourselves ready to travel around Tokyo. Get money, get Pasmo card and buy a train ticket into town. Once on the platform this very nice train conductor helped us reserve seats, he also got Sally and Shaun onto the right train since she bought the wrong time slot. We then left the Tokyo Station from wrong exit and took 20 minutes to finally get going in the right direction but then walked to hotel easily.

Since we arrived a bit early to the hotel we dropped off our luggage, then went for lunch before going on a walking tour of the Sensoji Temple and Shrine area. The lunch was in a small restaurant near the shrine and we had to get a number and wait for 15 minutes to get in. Once in we all had the $20 special of Ramen noodles and a beer (obviously Rosie only had the noodles). It was a great meal to start our trip.
We were all a bit tired but the walk around this area was very interesting, with about 10% of the tourists there wearing traditional costumes (this is very trendy for the instagram generation.

Once we got back to the hotel we had a bit of a rest before going out for dinner at the first restaurant we could find. Again it was only small and was full with our 6 and another table of 6. Great meal of a hotpot and a really good savoury pancake, a couple of drinks and all was good in the world. Again surprising value.
