Our first game in Thailand was at the Grand Prix Golf Club. This is a course owned by a Thai business man who loves cars so he themed the course with different racing and motoring images. Rosie and I played this course a few years ago with Merv and it was well worth a second visit.
The course was quite long, yet we both lost 3 shots off our Margaret River handicap. The grass was very spongy, which meant the ball didn’t run very much on the fairways and we all took a couple of holes to get used to hitting off the fairways, we tended to duff our shots as the club sunk into the soft grass.
We didn’t find the caddies too useful at this course, though Bruce found his young 19 yo quite pretty. Rosie won the day with 27 points. Bruce and Neil both got 24 points. All our scores can be seen under the world golf scores menu.
We would go back to this course again since it was challenging and interesting. The 18th hole was a bit tricky and we all struggled to finish it, mainly due to bad advice from our caddies. They misdirected all of us about the distance to the water so even when we played safe, in we went.
